Long winters, summer frosts, and impossibly fast winds. The things that can make Orkney a somewhat challenging place to live make it an exceptional climate for creating and maturing extraordinary whisky. In celebration of this, and as a nod to Niflheim, one of the nine worlds of old Norse mythology and the birthplace of ice, frost and fog, we created Ice Edition 17-Year-Old. Matured in ex-bourbon casks, Ice Edition offers aromas of cool, fresh pineapple, and ripe mango sorbet, and is balanced with spicy smoke and ginger root. A special release with an ABV of 53.9%, it was released in spring 2016.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Natural Cask-Driven Color (No Additives). Pale with a mirror-like brightness.
Flavors: Fresh pineapple, Mango sorbet, Root ginger, Peat smoke, Vanilla, Aromatic spices.
